Life and Society
Life and Society is an integrated curriculum covering the learning elements of "Personal and Social Development ", "Resources and Economic Activities" and "Social Systems and Citizenship".
Life and Society provides foundation knowledge, concepts and perspectives that aid students not only to achieve the learning targets specified in the Personal, Social and Humanities Education Key Learning Area (“PSHE KLA”) Guide, but also to learn senior secondary PSHE subjects and Citizenship and Social Development.
This curriculum also develops students’ understanding of themselves as individuals and as social beings, and gives them an opportunity to understand local, national and global economic activities. It also encourages students to develop their consciousness and interest in local and national socio-political systems and helps students develop global perspectives through exploring global issues and world politics.
Integrated Humanities
Integrated Humanities is a subject within the Personal, Social and Humanities Education Key Learning Area (PSHE KLA). Based on the PSHE KLA Curriculum Guide compiled by the Curriculum Development Council of the Hong Kong Education Bureau, we provide our S1 and S2 students with an appropriate school-based integrated humanities curriculum, covering different learning areas of the curriculum framework of the PSHE KLA: "Individual and social development”, “Time, continuity and change”, “Culture and heritage”, “Place and environment”, “Resources and economic activity” and “Social institutions and citizenship”. We offer a variety of learning experiences that enable students to become informed and responsible citizens, willing to contribute to the well-being of society and our nation.
Chinese History
Through studying Chinese history, students develop an understanding of and concern for the nation's past and present, and envision its future development.
When students study the life experiences accumulated by those who came before them, they can reflect on the meaning of history and strengthen their critical thinking abilities. This helps them understand current events are a continuation of past developments, thereby gaining insights into global trends and future development of our country.
History
The study of history helps to develop a global perspective and an enhanced understanding of the processes of interaction, diversification and rapid change in today’s world. Upon completion of this course, students should have mastered higher-order thinking skills, such as historical interpretation and analysis that will enable them to appreciate where they stand in the long flow of human history.
Geography
Geography forms a bridge between the social sciences and the physical sciences, providing an understanding of the dynamics of cultures, societies and economies on the one hand, and those of physical landscapes and environmental processes on the other.
Geography as a secondary school subject focuses on the study of three core elements –space, place and the environment. When students explore geographical issues, the questions of “What”, “Where”, “How”, “Why” and “What if” form the basic constructs for developing a geographical framework for enquiry.
Through examining the inter-relationships among people, places and the environment, Geography helps students to acquire an in-depth understanding of the changing contemporary world in terms of space and environment.
Economics
The subject of Economics primarily aims to develop and enhance students' ability to understand economic phenomena and to make effective decisions regarding economic issues.
